YOU WILL NEED

  •          Water to soak and cook beans
  •          ½ cup ketchup
  •          ¼ cup to ¾ cup water (based on your desired sauce thickness preferences)

 

DIRECTIONS

  1.      In a large stock pot, fill with water
  2.      Open package and remove clear unlabeled bag and set aside. Pour bean mixture into your pot of water and stir
  3.      Bring pot of water to a BOIL, covering lid.  BOIL for 15 minutes
  4.      Reduce heat to SIMMER for 1 to 2 hours until beans have softened. If your water evaporates too much during simmering process, add additional as needed to continue to simmer your beans.
  5.      DRAIN water and lightly rinse beans
  6.      Transfer beans to a slow cooker or to a stove top medium sized pot and add ketchup, contents of package you set aside in step #2 and water. Start with ¼ cup water and add more as your beans simmer. Mix together beans and additions well.
  7.      Turn your slow cooker to LOW or WARM if your low setting runs hot (or simmer if you are using stove top method) and simmer for an additional hour, adding extra water as you desire for the desired thickness of your sauce. Stir your baked beans every 15 to 20 minutes until they reach your desired done-ness and sauciness.

 

Serve with hot dogs, eggs, sausages, burgers and more!

 

Optional Level Up additions : Add ½ pound COOKED bacon and crumbled to your stove top mixture for a bacon packed baked beans.  Other yummy additions include chopped bell peppers and onions.
