Classic Sunday Pot Roast is an easy to make comfort food that is hearty, filling, and can easily feed the whole family. Versatile mix - can be made in the oven or the slow cooker.
YOU WILL NEED: Pot Roast
2 to 3 pound roast (top sirloin as example)
¼ cup olive oil or vegetable oil
½ cup water
2 to 3 cups cut potatoes and vegetables (optional) – fresh recommended
YOU WILL NEED: Gravy
1 to 2 cups water (you can combine ½ cup water and ½ cup roast drippings)
DIRECTIONS
For the Slow Cooker:
Rub your pot roast with oil
Set pot roast into the bottom of your slow cooker
Add vegetables and potatoes around roast (optional)
Empty contents of your LARGE unlabeled bag onto your pot roast
Pour water around roast
Return lid to slow cooker. Set slow cooker to LOW. Cook for 5 to 7 hours until roast is fork tender and potatoes are cooked through if serving with potatoes
Note: if the water disappears through cooking, add ½ cup additional water at a time.
For the Oven:
Preheat oven 325F
Add roast to a large roasting pan, with lid
Add lid to your roasting pan
Cook in the oven 30 minutes per pound for medium done-ness. Add extra time if you prefer a medium-well or well done roast.
Remove from pan and serve with gravy!
Gravy:
Add contents of your SMALL unlabeled bag to a medium saucepan along with 1 cup of liquid to start (all water or a mix of water and drippings). Stir to combine. Continue to whisk mix and liquid together to remove any lumps and Bring your mix to a gentle boil, reduce to simmer. Add extra liquid for a thinner gravy as desired
