YOU WILL NEED
- 1 ½ to 2 pounds stewing beef
- 4 to 5 cups water
- Vegetables of choice : We love carrots, potatoes, celery, onions
DIRECTIONS
For the Slow Cooker:
- Into the bottom of a slow cooker - Empty contents of your pouch along with water (start with 4 cups), beef and vegetables of choice. Give it a good stir. Add lid to slow cooker and set to LOW for 6 to 8 hours until beef is cooked through and gravy is thick. Add additional water ½ way through cooking to thin out the gravy to achieve your desired consistency
For the StoveTop :
- Into the bottom of a large stock pot - Empty contents of your pouch along with water (start with 4 cups), beef and vegetables of choice. Give it a good stir. Add lid your pot and set your stove-top to medium low. Cook for 4 to 6 hours until beef is cooked through and gravy is thick. Add additional water ½ way through cooking to thin out the gravy to achieve your desired consistency
Optional Pre-Browning of your beef:
Optionally pre-brown your beef in a skillet on medium-high heat. Coat your beef in a little of the contents found inside your pouch and brown inside a skillet that has been coated with vegetable oil. Empty your beef along with any dripping inside your pan to your pot or slow cooker. Add remaining contents of pouch, water and vegetables and return lid to your pot or slow cooker. Cook according to directions above
